Troon North Golf Club is often considered to be the best of Arizona golf. And while there are many legitimate arguments for other courses, I have to think that Troon North Golf Club is possibly the best 36 holes of golf, in one location, in Arizona Golf. Troon North Golf Club is located in the golfing paradise of Scottsdale, Arizona. The Club features two courses which wind through a spectacular desert landscape; all in the shadow of Pinnacle Peak. The Monument Course is a 7,028 yard, par 72, Tom Weiskopf and Jay Morrish Designed masterpiece. The Monument Course has an extremely impressive list of awards. This includes being voted the #1 daily fee course in Arizona by both Golf Digest and Golf Magazine. Awards are great, but the playing experience of this course is tremendous. The course is in fabulous condition, and with five sets of tees, all handicaps can have a challenging and rewarding experience. The Monument course features wide fairways with a good deal of undulation. Because of the undulating fairways, you can have the opportunity to hit shots from a multitude of lies. The bunkering is very good but not excessive. This is a classic dessert layout with water on only 13, and 18. You will barely notice a lack of water though, the desert vegetation and the incredible vistas will give you plenty to stare at, and carry shots over. The Pinnacle course plays to 7,044 yards and a par of 72. This course was also designed by Tom Weiskopf. The Pinnacle Course is another visually stunning golf course. The Pinnacle Course is a tighter course, with more elevation changes than the Monument Course. Again the Pinnacle Course has received many awards, and is consistently noted for its excellent conditions. One really interesting feature are the granite boulders which are scattered through out the course. The boulders are not only aesthetic but also come into play in shot selection. Despite the fact that the Monument Course is more highly ranked, I really like the Pinnacle Course. If you are going to play Troon North Golf Club, make time to play both the Monument and Pinnacle Courses and experience not only superb golf but also the service for which Troon Golf is famous.
